After more than 12 years of making large organisations and businesses successful in the corporate world and then 8 more years as a self-employed small business owner, I’ve experienced all the ups and downs and challenges that many businesses face!  I’ve learned many lessons, including how to create an independent consulting business, how to reinvent the business and bounce back after set-backs, and how to take a business coaching practice from zero to full capacity in a few months.

The truth is that I could never do this on my own.  I had to tap into the network that I had built over many years, as well as the leadership and support of a private coach, various mentors and a number of business- and marketing- networking and mentoring groups.  I realised that my personal and business growth was DIRECTLY linked to the individuals and groups I associated with – Powerful concepts also referred to as the POWER OF ASSOCIATION or INFLUENCE.

In the past year, I’ve been priviledged to experience significant business growth and had the opportunity to impact many individuals’ lives through coaching, consulting, networking, articles and public speaking.  In 2011 I also had the opportunity to do live, in-person training and coaching with one of my international marketing mentors in the US. During this trip to New York and Stamford, I personally networked with more than 200 highly-successful entrepreneurs, small business owners, coaches and consultants, mainly from the US, but also from the UK, Canada and Sweden.

I once again realised from personal experience and the interactions with these successful business owners, that success in business (and in life) is dependent on a number of factors:

• You need a clear vision and practical plans to make this vision a reality – Focus is essential!
• You need to invest in your personal and business development on an ongoing basis.
• You cannot do it all on your own – you need trusted advisors and a support network.
• You need to stay open for opportunity at all times.
• You need to take ACTION – a No-Excuses approach!
• You need a positive, winning mindset.

So how could this be relevant to YOU?

You obviously realise that I’m absolutely passionate about helping businesses to become sustainable, successful and prosperous, in particular small businesses that are run by woman (and cool guys).  Well, let me just qualify “small business” – by small I do not mean small in income, impact or significance, but small in terms of full-time staff, operations and infrastructure.

As my private business coaching started to reach full capacity in 2010, I decided to take a step up.  I knew that if I wanted to fulfil my passion and purpose, I had to reach out to more business people out there, plugging in to concepts such as the power of association and influence.  I also knew that I could be of service to many more people through group coaching, and in 2011 I stated my first Mastermind program.

What is a Mastermind?

A mastermind is simply an alliance of two or more individuals dedicating themselves to a specific goal, in this case the success of your business.

In the early 20^th Century, Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, first defined the mastermind as a “coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.”  Hill’s concept of the ‘Master Mind’ was inspired by Andrew Carnegie, wealthy steel magnate. Carengie attributed his entire fortune to the POWER he accumulated through this ‘Master Mind.’

Since the publication of Think and Grow Rich in the 1937, the idea of mastermind groups has grown and evolved to become a tool of many successful individuals.  The benefits of having a supportive mastermind group are plenty:
